The team won eleven games, with no ties or losses, topping the league. Second place went to First Baptist, 6-2; 3rd, Lutheran, 4-5; tie for fifth with 4-6 were Dunklin Memorial and Episcopal, and First Methodist turned in an 0-10 record. Eddie Miller's Baseball School, 1955
According to the Stuart News (17 Feb 1955), two major league baseball managers met with former major league shortstop Eddie Miller at his school here in Stuart. The managers are Philadelphia Phillies manager Mayo Smith (left) and Cleveland Indians manager Al Lopez (second from right). Player in uniform (second from left) is likely one of the students at the Eddie Miller Baseball School. Eddie Miller (far right) established a baseball school at the Stuart Ball Park, located at Georgia Avenue and 7th Street in early 1955. Miller also held a training session in 1956 but was no longer in operation by the 1957 season. -
