Jensen Beach sixth graders were given airplane rides on 15 Dec 1962 through the efforts of their principal, Ernest Varvil. Ernest "Ernie" Varvil (1925-2007) worked in the Martin County School System as a teacher, principal, and personnel director; he was also a pilot and an author.
