Cynthia Burnette Haney, 1929
Published in Sandra Thurlow's book, Stuart on the St. Lucie (p. 108), with the caption: "Cynthia Burnette Haney was a national figure in the Women's Christian Temperance Union before she settled on the St. Lucie River. In 1929, she was recognized as the state's oldest active newspaper woman by the Florida Newspaper News and continued to write until a few weeks before her death on July 24, 1932. This portrait was used by Catherine Fallis Backus to create a bas relief presented to the Woman's Club of Stuart on Mrs. Haney's 88th birthday, May 1, 1928.Tags Older people -
