  • "Alligator Joe," Warren Frazee (1873-1915) operated an attraction near the gilded hotels of Palm Beach from the late 1890s until 1915. He also opened another attraction in Miami in 1906 and toured northern cities.
  • In 1960s, documents were found in the attic of recently deceased Mary Chandler, Salerno, concerning espionage and other activities during the U.S. Civil War. The documents belonged to Albert B. Chandler (1840-1923) who developed and ciphers for transmitting confidential messages as the confidential telegrapher for Lincoln. Mary Chandler's husband, Frank Chandler was A.B. Chandler's nephew, but it is unknown how they came to have possession of the papers or where they were located after 1960.
